Players take on the role of Yi, a hero from the past who is resurrected on a mission of revenge to overthrow nine tyrannical rulers known as the “Nine Sols” in the abandoned city of New Kunlun. With a beautiful, hand-drawn and cinematic art style, the game offers a deep and dark narrative, exploring themes of betrayal, ancient technology, and the fate of a civilization teetering on the brink of extinction.
At the heart of Nine Sols’ gameplay is a combat system heavily inspired by the parry mechanics of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Combat is fast-paced and demands precision, with players deflecting enemy attacks to gather energy for devastating counterattacks.
Beyond challenging and epic boss battles, the exploration element is cleverly structured in a Metroidvania style, forcing players to master new mobility abilities to uncover hidden secrets hidden in every corner of the intricately interconnected map.
